How to Set Up Landmark ShipRequest and Regions

Updated 10/13/20263 min read

If Landmark Global has set up your account to print end-carrier labels, you can switch a Landmark or Wavelink carrier connection to Landmark's ShipRequest API. You can also send shipments to certain countries through a different Landmark facility. Both settings apply to one carrier connection at a time, so your other Landmark and Wavelink connections keep working as they do today.

How it works

  • Landmark Region is the Landmark facility that every shipment on the connection goes through by default.
  • Alternate Region and Alternate Region Countries send shipments to the listed destination countries through a second facility, for example UK orders through Miami.
  • Use ShipRequest sends labels through Landmark's ShipRequest API instead of the standard import. Landmark returns the end-delivery carrier's label and tracking number. If Landmark can't produce an end-carrier label for a shipment, it returns a standard Landmark label.
  • The connection keeps using the same Landmark API credentials.
ShipRequest and region values are set up by Landmark for your specific account. Turn these settings on only after your Landmark integration manager confirms which regions to use and that your account is enabled for ShipRequest.

Before you start

  • You need permission to manage carrier connections.
  • Get the region names for your account from your Landmark integration manager, for example Landmark BUF 2 and Landmark MIA 2, along with the list of destination countries that use each region.

Step 1: Open the carrier connection

Go to Shipments > Carrier Connections and click the Landmark or Wavelink connection you want to change. On the Settings tab, scroll down to Carrier Specific Settings.

Step 2: Set the regions and turn on ShipRequest

Carrier Specific Settings for a Wavelink connection with the Landmark Region, Alternate Region, Alternate Region Countries and Use ShipRequest settings marked
  1. In Landmark Region, choose the default facility for this connection.
  2. Optional: in Alternate Region, choose the facility for the countries you list below. Choose None to send every shipment through the Landmark Region.
  3. In Alternate Region Countries, type each destination's 2-letter country code (for example GB for the United Kingdom) and press Enter.
  4. Check Use ShipRequest to print end-carrier labels through ShipRequest. Leave it unchecked to keep using the standard Landmark import.

Click Save Settings.

Step 3: Send test shipments

Landmark usually wants to review a few shipments on a new ShipRequest account before you go live. Buy a label on the connection for a few orders, including one to an Alternate Region country, and send Landmark the order numbers or tracking numbers so they can check the data. To cancel a test label, void the shipment before the package leaves your warehouse.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do
A Landmark standard label instead of an end-carrier labelLandmark couldn't produce an end-carrier label for that shipmentAsk your Landmark integration manager to confirm the account's ShipRequest setup and services
The client does not have access to the requested shipping serviceThe selected Landmark service isn't enabled for ShipRequest on your accountConfirm the service codes with your Landmark integration manager
A shipment went through the wrong facilityThe destination country isn't in Alternate Region Countries, or the region is wrongCheck the country codes and regions on the connection, then void and re-ship if the package hasn't left

Turning ShipRequest off

Uncheck Use ShipRequest and click Save Settings. New labels go back to the standard Landmark import. Labels you already printed aren't changed.
