How to Connect Your OnTrac Carrier Connection
Warehance connects directly to OnTrac through a native carrier integration. This article walks you through gathering the right credentials, connecting the carrier, configuring the connection, and verifying that everything works.
Before You Start
You'll need to request the following from your OnTrac representative before beginning this process:
- v3 API credentials. Make sure you specifically ask for v3 credentials, not v2. The native integration will not work with v2 credentials.
- Your Web Service ID and Web Service Key
- Your Customer Branch code
- Your Injection Facility Code
- Your tender-at address (the pickup location OnTrac has on file for your account)
Reach out to your OnTrac rep as early as possible in this process. Gathering the right credentials up front will save you a round trip later.
1. Select OnTrac as Your Carrier:
- Click Shipments in the left-hand menu, then click Carrier Connections.
- Click the purple Create button.
- Select OnTrac from the list of available carriers.
- Click the purple Next button. This brings you to the Enter Credentials screen.
2. Enter Your Credentials:
- Nickname: Enter a name to identify this connection, such as OnTrac Native.
- Web Service ID: Enter the Web Service ID provided by your OnTrac rep.
- Web Service Key: Enter the Web Service Key provided by your OnTrac rep.
- Customer Branch: Enter your OnTrac customer branch code.
- Click Connect.

Connecting successfully only confirms that your ID and key are valid. You'll still need to configure the connection and verify it before you can ship, covered in the next two steps.
3. Configure Carrier Specific Settings:
Once you click Connect, the new connection will show up under Carriers. Click on the new connection, which takes you directly to its Settings page.
Scroll down to the Carrier Specific Settings section to finish configuring the connection.
- Pickup Type: Select the pickup type for this OnTrac connection, provided by your OnTrac rep.
- Customer Branch: Enter your OnTrac facility code for your account (same value used in Step 2).
- Injection Facility Code: Enter your OnTrac injection facility code. Contact OnTrac if you don't have this on hand.
Under Tender At Address, enter the facility address associated with your customer branch:
- Street Address
- Address Line 2 (if applicable)
- City
- State
- Postal Code
- Country Code
Click Save Settings.

This address is case-sensitive. Use the two-letter state abbreviation (for example, OR, not Oregon), and make sure the entry matches OnTrac's records exactly. An incorrectly formatted address is the most common reason a connection fails to rate correctly.
4. Verify Your Connection:
Connecting and configuring the settings doesn't guarantee the connection is fully working. Confirm it by rating and purchasing a test label.
- Create a test order or shipment.
- Rate the shipment using your new OnTrac connection.
- Purchase the label.
If the label purchases successfully, your OnTrac connection is fully configured and ready to use.
