How to Connect Your Etsy Store to Warehance

As of October 21, 2024, Etsy restricted which third-party platforms can sync shipping and order data with Etsy shops. For U.S. sellers, ShipStation and Shippo are the only two approved partners that can automatically import orders and push tracking back to Etsy. Etsy will begin fully enforcing these limits on February 1, 2026 — after which no other integration path will work for new connections.

Warehance integrates with ShipStation, so the supported way to connect your Etsy store to Warehance is to route it through ShipStation. This is a three-stage setup:

  1. Connect your Etsy store to ShipStation.
  2. Connect ShipStation to Warehance using your API credentials.
  3. Tell Warehance which ShipStation store(s) to sync, so only your Etsy orders flow in.

This guide walks you through each step.

You'll need a ShipStation account that supports marketplace integrations and API access. If you don't already have one, you'll create it in Step 1.

Step 1:

Sign up for a ShipStation account at shipstation.com if you don't already have one. Complete the account setup and verify your email.

Step 2:

Log in to ShipStation and open Account Settings (the gear icon in the top right). From the left sidebar, select Selling Channels, then click Store Setup.

Step 3:

Click Connect a Store or Marketplace. In the list of marketplaces, find and select Etsy.

Step 4:

Follow the prompts to authorize ShipStation to access your Etsy account. You'll be redirected to Etsy to sign in and approve the connection, then sent back to ShipStation once the store is linked.

Step 5:

Once your Etsy store appears in your ShipStation store list, note its Store ID — you'll need this in Warehance to filter orders to only this store. You can find the Store ID in the URL when editing the store in ShipStation, or in the store list view.

Step 6:

Generate your ShipStation API credentials. Go to Account SettingsAccountAPI Settings and click Generate New API Keys if no keys exist yet. Copy both the API Key and API Secret — you'll need them in the next step.

Keep your API key and secret somewhere secure. Treat them like passwords.

Step 7:

In Warehance, navigate to Stores in the left sidebar and click to add a new store. Select Shipstation from the list of available integrations.

Step 8:

Fill out the Shipstation connection form:

  • Name — A label for this store connection inside Warehance (e.g., My Etsy Store).
  • API Key — Paste the API Key you copied from ShipStation.
  • API Secret — Paste the API Secret you copied from ShipStation.
  • Enabled Stores (Optional) — Paste your Etsy store's ShipStation Store ID here. This tells Warehance to only sync orders from your Etsy store and ignore other stores connected to the same ShipStation account.
If you have multiple ShipStation store IDs you want to sync, enter them as a comma-separated list (e.g., 12345, 67890). Leave the field empty to import orders from all stores connected to your ShipStation account.

Step 9:

Optionally configure the additional sync settings:

  • Ignore orders with 'awaiting payment' status — Skip Etsy orders that haven't been paid for yet.
  • Ignore Orders Before (Optional) — Set a cutoff date so Warehance only imports orders placed on or after this date.

Step 10:

Submit the form to save your connection. Warehance will validate your credentials against ShipStation and begin syncing Etsy orders. New orders will flow in automatically going forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I connect Etsy directly to Warehance?

Etsy restricts which platforms can integrate directly with their marketplace. As of October 2024, ShipStation and Shippo are the only U.S. third-party shipping partners approved to sync shipping and tracking data with Etsy. Warehance integrates with ShipStation, so connecting through ShipStation is the supported path. Sources: Etsy Seller Handbook — New Shipping Partners, ShipStation — Etsy Integration.

Where do I find my Etsy store's ShipStation Store ID?

Inside ShipStation, open Account SettingsSelling ChannelsStore Setup, then click your Etsy store. The Store ID is visible in the URL of the store's settings page, or in the store list.

Do I need a paid ShipStation plan?

Yes. You'll need a ShipStation plan that supports marketplace integrations and API access. Check ShipStation's current pricing tiers to confirm which plan fits your order volume.

Will tracking numbers post back to Etsy automatically?

Yes. When Warehance ships an order, the tracking information flows back to ShipStation, which posts it to Etsy automatically.

What if I have multiple Etsy stores?

You can connect multiple Etsy stores to the same ShipStation account, then list all of their ShipStation Store IDs in the Enabled Stores field (comma-separated) on a single Warehance connection — or create a separate Warehance store connection for each Etsy store, whichever fits your workflow better.
