Picking Process Overview

The picking process involves aggregating inventory into orders to be prepared to ship. It begins with ensuring orders are both ready to ship and have allocated inventory in pickable locations. Instructions guide staff on which items to pick, from where, and where to place them. Totes, designated locations for transport during picking, play a crucial role in picking.

Tote Creation and Usage:

Totes are created in the system under warehouse locations. They are designated specifically for transport during picking. Before starting the picking process, ensure you have an adequate number of totes created for the pick session. During picking, totes are selected based on the quantity needed for the session.

Progress Tracking:

Progress can be tracked via desktop or mobile interfaces. A table displays the assignments of totes to orders, allowing for easy monitoring of picking status. Each tote is assigned one order, and each order is assigned one tote. The progress table provides insights into unassigned totes, quantities, and picking statuses.

Picking Instructions:

The picking process involves following instructions to pick items indicated in the system. While barcode scanners are preferred for efficiency, manual selection is also possible. After selecting an item and a tote, the picker is directed to pick the specified quantity of items for placement into the tote.

Multi-Item Orders:

For orders with multiple items, the process is repeated for each item, ensuring each item is correctly assigned to the appropriate tote. The system guides the picker on which items to pick and where to place them.

Tote Confirmation and Completion:

Once all items for an order have been picked, tote confirmation ensures the correct tote is assigned to the order. Upon completing the picking session, the orders are ready for shipment.
